In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Sujay Jairaj and his office, which manages this website and its messages on his behalf.

3. Information you give us

Contact form. When you send a message through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, organisation (if you give one), the type of enquiry and your message. We use these details to respond to your message and to follow up on it. The form delivers your message by email to connect@sujayjairaj.com, an inbox managed by Sujay Jairaj’s office.

Email. If you write to connect@sujayjairaj.com directly, we receive your email address, your name if your email shows it, and anything you include in your message. We use these in the same way as a contact form message.

Join the journey. When you join the journey, we collect your email address and use it to send you occasional updates on essays, talks and the forthcoming book. The list is run on Mailchimp, which keeps a record of when you joined, as proof of your consent, and tells us whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked, so that we can make the updates more useful. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Email delivery through Google. Contact form messages may be sent through a Google service (Gmail or Google Workspace), using a Google account belonging to Sujay Jairaj that is connected through Google’s secure authorisation (OAuth). This connection is used to send the messages you submit through the contact form to connect@sujayjairaj.com. It is not used to read or share other email or Google account data, or for advertising. Visitors are not asked to sign in with Google, and this website does not access visitors’ Google accounts. This website’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Please do not send sensitive personal information, such as health or financial details, through this website.

4. Information collected automatically

Analytics. This website uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use it. Google Analytics uses cookies to record information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the website that referred you, your type of device, browser, screen size and language, and your approximate location (city and country). Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google Analytics does not give us your name or email address. To learn more, see How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps.

Server logs. Like most websites, the server that hosts this website automatically records technical information about each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time. Our hosting provider keeps these logs to protect the website against misuse and attacks and to keep it working.

Spam protection. The contact form may use a spam-protection service, such as Google reCAPTCHA, to check whether it is being sent by a person or by an automated program. Such a service may collect information such as your IP address and how you interact with the page, for security and to prevent spam, fraud and abuse.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. This website uses a small number of cookies, which may include:

  • analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics, which help us understand how the website is used;
  • preference cookies, which remember choices such as your cookie settings; and
  • security cookies, set by services such as Google reCAPTCHA, which help protect the website and its forms from spam and misuse.

If you play a video, YouTube may also store cookies or similar data on your device (see section 6).

Your choices. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and through any cookie preferences offered on this website. You can also opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

6. Videos, fonts and links to other websites

YouTube videos. Videos on this website are embedded from YouTube, which is owned by Google. When you play a video, YouTube may collect information such as your IP address and the video you watched, and may store cookies or similar data on your device. YouTube’s own policies apply to its videos and to anything you do on the YouTube website or app.

Fonts. This website may use Google Fonts to display its typefaces. In that case, your browser downloads the font files from Google’s servers, which means Google receives your IP address and basic information about your browser.

Links to other websites. This website links to other websites, including those of the schools Sujay Jairaj is associated with, and Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.

We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, for example in response to a court order or a lawful request from a government authority.

We do not sell your personal data.

8. Data stored outside India

Some of these providers, including Google and Mailchimp, store or process data outside India, for example in the United States. Indian law allows such transfers, subject to any restrictions notified by the Government of India.

9. How we protect your data

We take reasonable steps to protect personal data, such as an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and limited access to the accounts that hold it. No website can be completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information through this one.

10. Your rights

  • ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, how we use it and who we have shared it with;
  • ask us to correct, complete or update it;
  • ask us to delete it, unless we must keep it by law;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from the updates (this does not affect anything done before you withdrew it);
  • nominate another person to exercise these rights for you in the event of your death or incapacity; and
  • have your grievances addressed.

To use any of these rights, write to connect@sujayjairaj.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. Requests are handled in accordance with applicable law.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

If you live outside India, the law where you live may give you further rights.

11. Children

This website is meant for adults. The contact form and the Join the journey list are not intended for anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to write to us for you.
